Welcome to East Carson Commons. This location will consist of 50 SRO^?s that would benefit for those that are homeless, or single people living in homeless shelters. By providing a safe and stable option for them to live will be the goal of this building, and all of my SROs that I offer. This building is one of 2 SRO buildings that I have. My Subsidized housing buildings also have SROs. My Section-8 apartments considering they are small in regards to the number of floors wouldn’t be able to support SROs. Since this building is exclusively for SROs, I will hope to be able to make a positive impact on those that are otherwise in need of housing.

An advantage of the SROs is they are the only rentals that I have that is less than $1,000 per month. However, I understand that even though the SROs, but for those living below the poverty line – it might as well be more than $2,000. For those that applied for subsidized housing and Section-8, they can have their SRO subsidized by FSP Realty as a good will act. FSP Realty will not get the difference from any other organization. If your income is $1,000 and you are only paying $350 – then FSP Realty is eating the $400.

For this program to work, the person must take the first SRO available. They don’t have a choice of picking which place they live in. In addition, their only choice is the Commons building. This will include this location, and the Orbin St. Commons. The tenant will meet with the owner (me) during the application process, and must provide proof they applied for Section-8, and subsidized housing. If the applied for subsidized housing in one of my places, then this would show in the records they have with my realty company. This is designed to make things as simple as possible There will be others that would need a subsidized SRO, and not all of my units can be subsidized as that would definitely eat into the profit, and while my apartments are intended for the good will of the community, I need enough to pay employees, and make the realty viable even if I choose to not buy any more buildings.
